Are you interested in independent, user-owned social media? A very good image-sharing site, http://ipernity.com is currently in the process of transitioning from a corporate entity to a user-owned nonprofit.

-basically a fork of old flickr, before yahoo bought it and rehauled the site
-hosting support (html codes)
-easy cross-posting support for tumblr, twitter etc sites
-you can enable one-click sharing for other people too
-they're based in France and don't practice censorship!
-desktop and mobile browsing support, works in browser with no need to dovnload apps or stuff

As I said the site is in a transition phase and the future is a bit uncertain, but so far looking very good!
If that sounds interesting please check 'em out! I'm not affiliated with staff but feel free to connect with me there, and if you have any questions I can try to answer to them (here or there.) My profile is http://www.ipernity.com/doc/anaryawe/album
I especially like that I can upload images private (so that they don't show in my galleries) but hosting to 3rd party sites (like this journal!) still works.

thanks!

transition,..
